Walks around the public highways of Rothbury & Coquetdale
in Beautiful Northumberland

Walk 1 - Rothbury Circular via Whitton to Thrum Mill

A short walk but still quite challenging, with superb views of Cragside, the Coquet Valley and Simonside - requires a sense of Balance!

Walk 2 - Rothbury Carriage Drive

A more challenging walk along Lord Armstrong's old carriage drive, with views towards Hedgehope, Biddlestone Quarry and Cartington Castle.

Walk 3 - Harbottle via Biddlestone Edge

An intermediate walk by Harbottle Castle and the River Alwin, leading past Clennel Hall and on to the village of Sharperton, over the River Coquet and back to Harbottle.

Walk 4 - Thropton Via Cartington

A moderate walk via Snitter, Lorbottle and Cartington Castle, with views of Simonside and the Coquet Valley.

If possible, please walk along the right side of the highway or the verge if appropriate. Please stay on the right hand side, facing the traffic.
